VII: J-Flex Ultradeep Pipelay Design Permits 120 to 180 Degrees of Gimballing

PENSACOLA, FL., September 15  –  The J-Flex non-articulated fixed tower flexes pipe to match the angle of incidence. The interior of this large fixed tower is built to flex pipe to accommodate 120 to 180 degrees of gimballing. While not perceived as an advantage for early pipelay systems, this revolutionary design enables a vessel to lay pipelines in rougher seas than a non-gimballing system.

The system enables re-orientation of the vessel to minimize pitch and roll- and stabilize the platform- in rough seas, independent of the direction of pipelay. This will reduce the amount of annual downtime in any pipe lay system. Other J-Flex innovations are expected to spur efficiencies in the construction of ultradeep offshore oil and gas pipelines.

“Big, deep and fast- that is how we think about our J-Flex system. Not only will it lay much bigger pipe in deeper water than our competitors, it will also lay it faster, bringing projects into service sooner. ” says Rus Howard, Chairman, DeepGulf, referring to the J-Flex ability to lay 36" pipe in 12,000 feet of water.

VI: Radical J-Flex Ultra-deep Pipelay System Eliminates Tower Articulation

PENSACOLA, FL., August 23  –  DeepGulf’s radical J-Flex design does not articulate its tower to match the angle of departure. J-Flex patented technology has a system that is founded on a 360 foot fixed tower with a structural system that flexes the pipe to match the angle of departure. Use of a non-articulating tower to hold strings of up to 9 near-vertical pipes in position gives the pipeline the required departure angle and allows a weathervaning rotation of the facility. By not articulating the tower, DeepGulf can build it light and very tall. This system’s 360’ stroke will deliver the fastest lay rate in ultra-deep water oil and gas developments.

“The non-articulating tower and flexed pipe system is a simplification over existing J-Lay systems that reduces vulnerability to the elements and increases productivity. This is just one part of a revolutionary design capable of laying big pipe (36 inch) in ultra-deep waters (12,000 foot). Big, deep, and fast will create new economic models in the ultra-deep offshore oil and gas industry.” says Rus Howard, Chairman, DeepGulf, referring to the J-Flex ability to lay 36" pipe in 12,000 feet of water.

V: JFlex's Ultradeep Pipelay System has rapid 360 foot stroke

PENSACOLA, FL., July 3  –  DeepGulf's J-Flex revolutionary design features a boxed-in tower. Most J-Lay towers are open on one side to enable the staging of new pipe into the system. Because the J-Flex tower is enclosed on all sides, it can be much lighter and thus much taller giving it a 360 foot stroke. For each weld to the pipeline, the J-Flex adds 360 feet of pipe making it the fastest J-Lay tower in the world.

"Big, deep and fast- that is how we think about our J-Flex system. Not only will it lay much bigger pipe in deeper water than our competitors, it will also lay it faster, bringing projects into service sooner " says Rus Howard, Chairman, DeepGulf, referring to the J-Flex ability to lay 36" pipe in 12,000 feet of water.

IV: J-Flex will Lay 36" pipeline in 12,000 foot depth

PENSACOLA, FL., May 8  –  Deep Gulf reveals its 3,000 ton capacity J-Flex system can lay 36 inch diameter pipelines in 12,000 feet of water. This is a substantial improvement over current industry capabilities which are limited to about 16 inch pipelines at 8,000 feet. At that depth a pipe requires a very thick sidewall that greatly reduces inside diameter. This reduced size severely limits oil flow and makes many of the larger finds in ultra-deep Gulf of Mexico uneconomical to develop. Other J-Flex innovations are expected to spur efficiencies in the construction of offshore oil and gas pipelines.

" Deep Gulf's ability to lay very large pipelines in ultra-deep water can reignite interest in the untapped ultra-deep leased blocks in the deepest part of the Gulf " says Rus Howard, Chairman, DeepGulf.

III: Deep-Gulf Announces Fastest UltraDeep Lay Rate

PENSACOLA, FL., February 12  –  DeepGulf discloses very fast production rates from its proprietary pipeline installation system. The company’s J-Flex technology is expected to spur efficiencies in the construction of offshore oil and gas pipelines. With a 360 foot stroke, DeepGulf’s J-Flex system will install deeper and bigger pipelines at lay rates twice as fast as most other systems.

“The efficiencies of the JFlex System not only enable DeepGulf to lay faster, thus completing the system sooner saving on construction cost, it also means that our customer can get a field into production sooner, speeding the payback of their investment.” says Rus Howard, Chairman, DeepGulf.

II: DeepGulf selects Lott Ship to serve its GOM logistical needs

PENSACOLA, FL., January 24  –  DeepGulf has selected Lott Ship Agency to handle all logistical matters for its Ultra-Deep pipelay operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Lott Ship is one of the best ship agents in the business, serving the GOM offshore construction industry. With offices and operations in Mobile, New Orleans and Galveston/Houston, they are capable of serving DeepGulf’s needs in all the important ports of the Gulf of Mexico.

“We chose Lott Ship because of their undisputed excellence in this particular segment of the industry and also for their proprietary OSILAS Software System,” says Rus Howard, Chairman, DeepGulf. “Mainstream ERP systems are very large, enterprise level, resource management systems that do not meet all the rigorous demands at the operational level of the offshore construction industry. These heavy, sometimes cumbersome, systems can actually make problems worse in an industry where not having the right part at the right moment can create shutdowns that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per day and the cost of delivering a one dollar part frequently reaches thousands of dollars.”

OSILAS enables Lott Ship to integrate their very flexible and excellent logistical procurement and delivery model directly into their management system, and thus enables them to effectively function at the grassroots level. OSILAS delivers on the promise to control and manage the procurement process where it normally falls apart, specifically at the core operational level. The OSILAS system also manages the increasingly complex and demanding aspects of international operations logistics, such as security, documentation, import/export of materials and labor and all factors that make for a smooth operation.

“We are delighted with and excited about the opportunity to partner with DeepGulf and their revolutionary new pipelay system,” says Bill Lott, president of Lott Ship. “We expect to benefit from partnering with the only company that has the technology capable of constructing pipelines in the deepest parts of the GOM.”
